The sixth session of the 12th National Assembly will open in Hanoi on October 20 with a wide range of important issues on the table during its 32 days of deliberation and voting, said a senior NA official.

According to Dr. Tran Dinh Dan, member of the NA Standing Committee and Head of the NA Office, the session will hear and discuss reports on the implementation of socio-economic development plans and State budget estimates in 2009 as well as decide on State budget allocation options for 2010.

Together with adopting eight bills and discussing 10 other draft laws, the NA will hear supervision reports on the implementation of policies and laws on the management and use of State capital and assets at State-owned groups and corporations.

The hearings will focus on the implementation of the country’s major projects, including the Dung Quat Oil Refinery Plant No. 1, the Son La hydroelectricity plant, the 5-million ha reforestation project and Ho Chi Minh Road , as well as consider plans to invest in the Lai Chau hydropower and Ninh Thuan nuclear power projects.

The NA will also hear and consider working reports by the Chiefs of the People’s Supreme Court, the People’s Supreme Procuracy and the Government on the law enforcement, crime prevention and settlement of citizen complaints and accusations.

In addition to the opening and closing ceremonies, several of the NA’s plenary sessions which will discuss the implementation of the 2009 socio-economic tasks and the 2010 socio-economic development plans and question-and-answer session will be broadcast live./.
