Da Nang (VNA) – Sun PhuQuoc Airways (SPA) on February 25 officially launched new air routes linking Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with Da Nang, providing additional travel options on the country’s key air corridors and helping meet rising travel and tourism demand.

The airline’s first commercial flight from Hanoi departed at 6:15 am from Noi Bai International Airport and landed in Da Nang later the same morning. Meanwhile, the flight from Ho Chi Minh City took off at 10:30 am from Tan Son Nhat International Airport, carrying the first passengers on the new service to the central coastal city.

Under its operational plan, the Ho Chi Minh City – Da Nang route will operate two flights per day starting February 25. On the Hanoi – Da Nang route, the airline will also run two flights per day, with plans to increase the frequency to four flights daily from March 1 to meet market demand.

SPA’s entry into the Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City – Da Nang corridor expands choices in airlines, flight schedules and services for residents and tourists while strengthening connectivity among the country’s major economic and tourism hubs.

The airline plans to launch the Da Nang – Phu Quoc route from March 15, gradually completing its network linking large tourist destinations.

It noted that the expansion of the route network is part of its development strategy, with Phu Quoc serving as the central hub. By the end of February, the airline had operated a fleet of 10 aircraft and secured all safety and maintenance certificates in accordance with regulations of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.

On February 18, Sun PhuQuoc Airways signed an agreement to purchase 40 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner wide-body aircraft in a deal valued at about 22.5 billion USD in Washington D.C. The agreement provides a foundation for opening long-haul routes in the future and developing a large-scale fleet by 2030, the carrier said.

The launch of the new routes is expected to help promote trade and tourism among Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang while enhancing linkages among the country’s key tourism centres./.

Vietnamese tilapia eye opportunities to make breakthrough

To sustain growth in 2026 across major markets such as the US, the Middle East and the European Union (EU), Vietnamese tilapia products must meet stringent requirements, ranging from flesh quality and food safety to certifications for sustainable farming and production, including GlobalGAP, BAP and ASC. This calls for a fully standardised production chain, from broodstock and farming to processing.
