Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam Airlines Group, which includes Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines and VASCO, will restore almost all its domestic flight network after October 20, as many localities have eased travel restrictions.

The carriers plan to officially sell tickets on October 20 right after getting permission from relevant authorities.

Accordingly, from October 21 to November 30, the group plans to operate nearly 40 routes across the country, approximately equal to the total number of routes before the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2021.

It will conduct over 90 flights per day from October 21, and increase to nearly 120 flights from the end of October to November.

National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines expects to reopen routes between Da Nang and Hai Phong, Buon Ma Thuot, Nha Trang, Da Lat and Can Tho from mid-November.

The Transport Ministry has also proposed that airlines no longer need to keep middle seat empty on flights from October 21, but passengers have to meet one of the three conditions in order to fly, which is either having certificates for full vaccination for at least 14 days and no later than 12 months before departure, or recovery from COVID-19 no later than six months before departure, or testing negative to SARS-CoV-2 using RT-PCR and rapid antigen testing methods no later than 72 hours before departure.

During the pilot period from October 10-20, Vietnam Airlines Group operated 150 flights on 16 routes, transporting nearly 12,000 passengers./.
