Mexico City (VNA) – A delegation from the Vietnamese Embassy in Mexico led by Ambassador Nguyen Van Hai visited Emiliano Zapata University and the Cendi preschool education system in Monterrey city, northern Nuevo Leon state, on June 26 as part of activities marking the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Mexico diplomatic relations.

These two educational institutions, established by Mexico’s Labour Party (PT), are among key models for higher and early childhood education in Mexico.

During the visit, the Vietnamese delegation met with the two institutions’ managers, toured their facilities, and presented gifts to lecturers and staff there.

Speaking at Emiliano Zapata University, Hai gave an overview of Vietnam’s education system and emphasised the similarities in educational philosophies of Vietnam and Mexico. He noted the common vision rooted in the humanistic principles of President Ho Chi Minh’s “Education for the complete human being” and Mexico’s “Ser culto para ser libre” (“Be cultured to be free”). Both nations regard education as the cornerstone for freedom, independence, and social progress.

Dr. Ruben Zardoya, Rector of Emiliano Zapata University, said the delegation’s visit was not only a simple diplomatic activity, but also a milestone opening the door to academic cooperation between Vietnam and his university in particular, and with the Mexican higher education system in general.

Meanwhile, the Cendi preschool education system consists of 13 centres operating under the public - private partnership model, serving about 5,300 children, mainly those from low-income families./.

Place preserving memories of President Ho Chi Minh in France

Although there is little publicly available documentation confirming exactly when Place Ho Chi Minh was established, French urban historians suggest that most streets and public spaces named after the Vietnamese leader in France emerged between the 1960s and 1980s, during the height of anti-war movements and solidarity campaigns supporting Vietnam across working-class towns and left-leaning suburbs around Paris.
