A Vietnam-Laos National Assembly cooperation conference will take place in the northwestern province of Son La from April 22-26.

The event is the national-level conference and highlights the cooperation between the two National Assemblies in the “Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Solidarity Year 2012”, Tran Van Hang, Head of the National Assembly’s Committee for External Relations and head of the conference organising board, said in Hanoi on April 20.

This substantial activity also marks the 50 th anniversary of the diplomatic ties and the 35 th anniversary of signing the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Treaty, he said.

The conference will help improve the effectiveness and quality of cooperation between the two countries and the two National Assemblies, and the increase of exchanges between localities sharing common borderline.

It is a chance for NA deputies, representatives from ministries, agencies and localities of both countries to share and discuss information on the implementation of the two countries’ agreements.

The programme will include a photo exhibition on the Vietnam-Laos traditional friendship held by the Vietnam News Agency, a cultural exchange by Vietnam Television and a groundbreaking ceremony to begin the construction of Lao Kho historical site in Son La province.-VNA
