The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) always considers Japan’s Kyodo News Agency a reliable partner, VNA General Director Tran Mai Huong has said.

Huong made the remark while receiving a delegation of Kyodo journalists in Hanoi on Oct. 28, saying that the ongoing visit is expected to further beef up VNA’s fine relations with Kyodo in particular and the Japanese press in general.

Since the establishment of VNA in 1945, generations of officials, reporters, editors and workers have always prided themselves on their positive contributions to the country, both in the past resistance wars for national independence and the current cause of national construction, he said.

The General Director told his guests that VNA is now pursuing its ambition to become a major media group with a diverse range of products, including bulletins, photos, books, newspapers, magazines and audiovisual products, to meet the growing demand for information during the nation’s integration and development process.

The Japanese journalists said they were impressed by Vietnam’s recent development and recalled memories of when they worked in Vietnam and received help from VNA.

The delegates paid attention to the development of the Vietnamese press and particularly the fact that more than 260 VNA journalists laid down their lives in the past struggles for national salvation.

The Japanese journalists expressed their wish to share more experiences and memories with VNA reporters who once covered the battlefields, as well as the development of a modern press and encouraging the reading habits of the Vietnamese people./.
