-President Nguyen Xuan Phuc paid tribute tofallen soldiers resting at the A1 National Cemetery in the northern borderprovince of Dien Bien during his working trip to the province on May 17-18.
Builtin 1958, the cemetery is the resting place of 645 soldiers who laid down theirlives during the 56 days and nights of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign in 1954. Read full story
-National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue had a meeting with visitingGreek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou in Hanoi on May 18, during which theVietnamese top legislator expressed his delight at the growing friendship andall-round partnership between the two countries.
President Sakellaropoulou agreed with the Vietnamese top legislator’s proposalto beef up bilateral trade, saying her visit aims to further promote bilateralpartnership and that the bilateral double taxation avoidance agreement andmaritime transportation agreement will be signed soon. - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Deputy Mayor of InternationalAffairs for Los Angeles Nina Hachigian in San Francisco on May 17 afternoon (UStime) within the framework of his working trip to the US to attend the ASEAN-USSpecial Summit.
Nina Hachigian said that the Mayor of Los Angeles wants to strengthencooperation with Vietnam this year, and the city is looking forward to settingup a twin relationship with Hanoi, and opening more direct flights to Vietnam. Read full story

The speech, themed “Sincerity, trust andresponsibility for a better world,” focused on how Vietnam sees the worldtoday, the role of sincerity, trust and responsibility in a turbulent world,and what the country needs to do in order to demonstrate sincerity, and bolstertrust and responsibility, for a better world.
