Hanoi (VNA) – The following is a brief review of the day’s events as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.

– Party General Secretary To Lam has praised the vital role played by the agriculture and environment sector, noting that it serves as a pillar of the national economy and a foundation of livelihoods, as well as a key driver in the nation’s development and transformation in the new era.

Addressing a ceremony marking the 80th founding anniversary of the sector (1945–2025) and its first patriotic emulation congress held by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment on November 12, the Party leader stated that developing agriculture and protecting natural resources and the environment are not merely economic responsibilities but also vital political, cultural, social, security, and defence missions. – State President Luong Cuong hosted an official welcome ceremony in Hanoi on November 12 afternoon for King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, who is on a two-day official visit to Vietnam.

– Vietnam always values and promotes fair and mutually beneficial economic and commercial cooperation with the US, while striving to create the most stable and favourable business environment for the business community in general, and for US companies in particular, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son has said.

Addressing the US-Vietnam Business Summit 2025, held in Hanoi on November 12 under the theme “A new era of development for mutually beneficial commercial relations,” Son stressed that in a world full of uncertainties, only trust can foster cooperation, only cooperation can lead to prosperity, and it is through prosperity that a sustainable future can be built. – The 9th Vietnam – Laos ministerial conference on labour, co-chaired by Vietnamese Minister of Home Affairs Do Thanh Binh and Lao Minister of Labour and Social Welfare Phosay Sayasone, took place in the northern province of Ninh Binh on November 12.

In his remarks, Binh stressed that over the past six decades, the cooperative relationship between Vietnam’s former Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, now the Ministry of Home Affairs, and Laos’ Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare has continuously deepened and expanded. The two sides have maintained biennial ministerial meetings and strengthened cooperation both bilaterally and multilaterally, contributing actively to ASEAN and Mekong sub-regional frameworks. – The Standing Committee of the National Assembly (NA) has decided that the total number of deputies of the 16th legislative body will be 500, according to Resolution No. 1891/NQ-UBTVQH15 on the anticipated number, structure, and composition of the 16th NA’s members.

Of the total, the number of deputies from central agencies is 217, making up 43.4%, while that from localities is 283, accounting for 56.6%. Read full story

– Vietnam aims to expand its logistics services sector by 12-15% annually over the next decade, while cutting logistics costs to 12-15% of GDP and building 5-10 international-standard logistics hubs, according to a new national strategy recently approved by the Government.

– The National Lung Hospital, in collaboration with experts and several medical institutions, has successfully performed two lung transplants for two patients in a single day.

– The Startup Flight 2025 took place on November 11 at Amity University in Uttar Pradesh, India, as part of a broader initiative to promote startup collaboration, innovation, and technology ecosystem connections between Vietnam and India amid the region’s accelerating digital transformation.

Based on the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between Vietnam’s National Assembly and Thailand’s House of Representatives, signed in 2023, Vietnam and Thailand agreed to continue exchanges of delegations at all levels, expand interactions between parliamentary friendship groups, especially the Vietnam–Thailand Parliamentary Friendship Group, as well as among women and young parliamentarians, while maintaining close coordination at multilateral forums.

Vietnamese Embassy in Israel urges citizens to enhance safety measures

The Vietnamese Embassy in Israel recommended that Vietnamese nationals regularly follow alerts and instructions issued by the Israeli Home Front Command; install and use the official Home Front Command warning application; and immediately move to a safe room or shelter when air raid sirens sound. They should avoid unnecessary travel and stay away from areas considered unsafe or at risk of unsafety.

ASEAN Secretary-General highlights Vietnam’s agenda-shaping role through ASEAN Future Forum

New mindset, vision necessary in marine development: Top leader
