- The 14th plenum of the 13th Party Central Committee convened in Hanoi on November 5 morning.

- Party General Secretary To Lam expressed his hope that the 14th plenum of the 13th Party Central Committee will build strong consensus on the development vision and strategic directions to be presented at the 14th National Party Congress.

Addressing the meeting, which kicked off on November 5 to discuss issues related to the 14th National Party Congress and matters concerning Party and political system building, the Party chief said he hopes proposals and opinions made at the event will lay the foundation for a new tenure, providing momentum for the next phase of national development. - National Assembly deputy Nguyen Quang Huan from Ho Chi Minh City has stressed the need for a radical and synchronised transformation in the growth model, economic restructuring, and effective promotion of new development driver while giving feedback to the draft Political Report to be submitted to the upcoming 14th National Party Congress.

The draft Political Report clearly defines the goals of striving for an average annual GDP growth of 10% or more during the 2026–2030 period, establishing a new growth model, restructuring the economy, and accelerating industrialisation and modernisation, with science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation as the main driving forces. - Lawmakers are scheduled to discuss in groups the draft revised Law on Civil Judgment Enforcement; the draft revised Law on Judicial Expertise; and the draft Laws amending and supplementing several articles of the Law on Corruption Prevention and Control and the Law on Intellectual Property, within the framework of the 15th National Assembly (NA)’s 10th session on November 5.

According to the Government’s report, the draft Law amending and supplementing certain articles of the Law on Corruption Prevention and Control focuses on improving policies related to anti-corruption measures, including the evaluation of anti-corruption efforts; agencies responsible for controlling assets and income; declaration and verification of assets and income. - Giving feedback to the draft documents for the 14th National Party Congress, National Assembly deputy Trinh Thi Tu Anh from Lam Dong province noted that the draft Political Report marks a historic step forward, showing a fundamental renewal in both approach and structure.

For the first time, the Political Report, the Report on Socio-Economic Development, and the Report on Party Building have been unified into a single coherent and concise document. This integration ensures consistency in ideology and action, embodying the consistent principle of being “easy to understand and easy to do.” Read full story

- Vietnam’s agro-forestry-aquatic product exports reached an estimated 5.96 billion USD in October, up 6.3% year-on-year, bringing total export earnings in the first 10 months to 58.13 billion USD, a year-on-year increase of 12.9%, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.

Of the total, agricultural products brought home 31.34 billion USD, up 15.5%; livestock products 512.9 million USD, up 19%; aquatic products 9.31 billion USD, up 12.9%; and forestry products 14.93 billion USD, up 5.8%. Read full story

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on November 4 signed Decision No. 2433/QD-TTg regarding the establishment of the State Steering Committee for Key National Programmes, Projects, and Works in the Energy Sector.

Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son are appointed as the head of the steering committee, while Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien is its permanent deputy head, and Deputy Minister of Finance Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc serves as its deputy head. The Ministry of Industry and Trade acts as its standing agency. Read full story

- Thai Huong, Chairwoman of the Strategy Council of the Vietnamese dairy giant TH Group, has freshly been conferred the Order of Friendship by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

She was one of the five persons from Italy, Sri Lanka, Israel, Germany, and Vietnam to receive the honour on November 4, in celebration of Russia’s National Unity Day. Read full story

- Under the influence of Typhoon Kalmaegi – the 13th storm in the East Sea this year, extremely heavy rain is forecast for areas from Da Nang city to Dak Lak province in the central region on November 6 and 7, with rainfall expected to reach 200 – 400mm, and in some places over 600mm.

During the same period, the areas from southern Quang Tri to Hue, Khanh Hoa, and Lam Dong are likely to experience heavy rain, with totals ranging from 150–300mm, locally exceeding 450mm, according to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF)./. Read full story

Minister of Foreign Affairs receives Japan’s Tochigi Governor

PM suggests acceleration of Laos–Vietnam University establishment

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said the two sides should strengthen the teaching and learning of Vietnamese and Lao in both countries, including introducing Vietnamese as an optional foreign language in Lao schools, while continuing academic exchanges and programmes on tradition education to nurture the special bilateral relationship, he said.
