Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s Ministry of Defence treasures and spares no efforts to develop sound traditional relations with the Cambodian army and people, Deputy Minister of Defence Le Chiem has said.

Deputy Minister Sen. Lieut. Gen. Le Chiem made the statement on December 6 in Hanoi while hosting General Mam Sophat, Director of the Department of Legal Affairs under the Cambodian Ministry of Defence.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister affirmed that Vietnam and Cambodia have enjoyed a traditional friendship during the past struggles for national liberation, as well as the construction and safeguarding at present.

In particular, cooperation in legal system development and law enforcement serves to provide conditions to complete the legal system in each country’s army, Chiem stressed.

In response, Gen. Mam Sophat voiced his hope that the Vietnamese defence ministry will continue exchanges of delegations at all levels, along with personnel training in law enforcement and building a legal system in the army. –VNA
