Dong Thap: wooden drum sets national record
A wooden drum in the Phuong Nam Cultural Tourism Area of the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap was recognised as Vietnam’s largest drum by the Vietnam Record Association.
Dong Thap (VNA) – A wooden drum in the Phuong Nam Cultural Tourism Area of the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap was recognised as Vietnam’s largest drum by the Vietnam Record Association.
A ceremony to announce the status was held on January 24.
The drum is 2.9 metres tall, with a diameter of six metres and carved from a 10-tonne wood block from Cameroon by artists of the Doi Tam drum-making village in northern Ha Nam province.
Dong Thap province is well-known for its hundred-year-old Sa Dec flower village, Cham Chim National Park and Go Thap historical relic site.-VNA
