Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - Shares of 17 Vietnamese securities companies have been added to the FTSE Global Equity Index Series (GEIS) following FTSE Russell's September 2026 semi-annual review, making the brokerage sector one of the most heavily represented among the newly included Vietnamese companies.

FTSE Russell announced the results of its review for the Asia-Pacific region, excluding Japan and China, on August 21.

Under the announced timetable, the changes will become effective after the market closes on September 18, with the revised index composition taking effect on September 21.

A total of 117 Vietnamese stocks were added to the GEIS, with securities companies accounting for nearly 15%.

Seven securities stocks were classified in the small-cap segment: HCM of Ho Chi Minh City Securities Corporation, SSI of SSI Securities Corporation, TCX of Techcom Securities, VCI of Vietcap Securities, VIX of VIX Securities, VND of VNDirect Securities and VCK of VPS Securities.

The seven are also among 27 Vietnamese stocks across the large-, mid- and small-cap segments added by FTSE Russell to the FTSE Global All Cap Index.

Their inclusion could attract significant passive investment flows as Vietnam transitions to secondary emerging-market status.

According to estimates by SSI Research, SSI could receive the largest inflow among the seven securities stocks, at approximately 43.3 million USD, followed by VIX at 34.7 million USD.

VPS, represented by ticker VCK, could attract around 19 million USD, while VNDirect is estimated to receive 18.3 million USD. Vietcap could see inflows of 17.5 million USD, followed by Techcom Securities with 14.8 million USD and Ho Chi Minh City Securities with approximately 13.7 million USD.

Combined, the seven securities stocks could attract around 161.3 million USD, equivalent to 4.2 trillion VND, according to SSI Research's estimates.

The expected capital allocation is not expected to take place all at once. Instead, the projected flows are likely to be phased in over four review periods.

Around 10% is expected to be allocated in September, followed by 20% in March 2027. Another 35% could be deployed in June 2027, with the remaining 35% expected in September 2027.

The securities industry also has a sizeable presence in the micro-cap segment. Ten additional brokerage stocks were included: BIDV Securities (BSI), DNSE Securities (DSE), FPT Securities (FTS), MB Securities (MBS), Saigon-Hanoi Securities (SHS), Thien Viet Securities (TVS), Tien Phong Securities (ORS), Viet Dragon Securities (VDS), Viet First Securities (VFS) and VietinBank Securities (CTS).

Securities companies were among the sectors with the largest number of new constituents in the latest review, alongside banks and real estate companies.

The broad inclusion follows significant expansion in Vietnam's securities industry in recent years.

Charter capital and outstanding margin loans have increased alongside market liquidity, while several securities companies have raised capital or listed their shares to strengthen their financial resources and expand their operations./.
