Vientiane (VNA) – The 9th National Assembly (NA) of Laos opened its 10th session in Vientiane on November 10 to look into important issues of national development, including socio-economic development and financial plans, for the coming period.
The session, presided over by NA Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane, is scheduled to last until November 21, the Lao News Agency (KPL) reported.
In his opening remarks, the Chairman underlined the session’s importance to setting orientations for the country’s next phase of development.
During the meeting, Lao legislators are set to consider the implementation results of the 9th five-year socio-economic development plan (2021–2025). They will also discuss the draft 10th five-year plan (2026–2030), along with budgetary and monetary plans for 2025 and 2026.
In addition, the Lao NA will assess the national programmes aimed at addressing economic and financial difficulties and enhancing the drug crime combat. The performance by key supervisory bodies will also be reviewed./.

The statement marks an important milestone, affirming the success of the multilateral and cross-border electricity trade under the Laos–Thailand–Malaysia–Singapore Power Integration Project (LTMS-PIP), while announcing the doubling of the project’s electricity trading capacity to 200 megawatts.
