Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) and Central Retail will step up cooperation to promote Vietnamese goods in international markets and connect Vietnamese businesses with global buyers through a series of trade promotion activities, including the 8th Vietnamese Week in Thailand and Vietnam International Sourcing 2026 (VIS 2026).

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phan Thi Thang and Paul Le, Vice President of Central Retail Vietnam in charge of Trade Promotion and Export, reached the agreement at their meeting in Hanoi on July 20.

Paul Le briefed the Vietnamese official on plans to jointly organise the 8th Vietnamese Week, scheduled for mid-September 2026 at CentralWorld shopping centre in Bangkok.

The annual trade promotion event aims to promote the image, brands and quality of Vietnamese goods among Thai consumers, while creating opportunities for Vietnamese businesses to expand their distribution networks in the market.

According to Paul Le, Central Retail will also continue working with the MoIT to organise VIS 2026, slated for September 3-5 in Ho Chi Minh City. The group will participate in business matching and sourcing activities, helping bring Vietnamese products into its distribution network and international markets.

The two events are key trade promotion activities under the cooperation between the MoIT and Central Retail, helping to promote Vietnamese products and support businesses in expanding export markets and boosting stronger connections with international buyers.

Paul Le also shared Central Retail’s development orientations in Vietnam under the goal of “For a more prosperous Vietnam,” saying that the group plans to continue expanding investment and developing modern shopping malls and supermarkets in localities nationwide, contributing to modernising commercial infrastructure and creating more jobs.

The firm will also support Vietnamese farmers, cooperatives and businesses in bringing their products into Central Retail’s distribution system, thereby increasing the value and competitiveness of Vietnamese goods in both domestic and international markets, he added.

Thang spoke highly of Central Retail’s contributions to trade promotion programmes and efforts to connect Vietnamese goods with consumers, and urged the group to continue developing new initiatives to promote and build brands for Vietnam’s key products.

She expressed her belief that the two sides will continue close coordination to successfully organise the 8th Vietnamese Week in Thailand and VIS 2026, thus helping to promote export and enhance the position of Vietnamese goods in international markets, and expand economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam and foreign partners./.
