Hanoi (VNA) – The first Glorious Spring Fair 2026 is not only a trade promotion event but also a vivid snapshot of Vietnam’s agriculture and traditional craft villages in transition where each OCOP (One Commune, One Product) item on display is more than a commodity but a storyteller of local livelihoods and efforts to apply science and technology to improve value.
Among the items on show, the Quy Hoa golden camellia tea – a five-star OCOP product from the northern province of Quang Ninh – has drawn particular attention from consumers.
Le Manh Quy, Director ofthe Quy Hoa Trading, Service and Import-Export Co. Ltd, said he hopes the fair will help spread the brand and expand market reach. This is the company’s third participation in a major trade promotion event, following an exhibition celebrating the 80th National Day anniversary and the Autumn Fair 2025.
Thanks to the previous fairs, the Quy Hoa golden camellia tea has become more widely known, he stated, adding that he has high expectations for this year’s event, not only in sales but also in strengthening consumer trust and building long-term recognition.
With its large scale and the spirit of a fresh start to the new year, the Spring Fair is an ideal time for agricultural enterprises to connect directly with customers. Such promotional spaces, Quy said, allow businesses to listen to genuine feedback and further improve product quality.
Sharing the story behind the tea, he said the journey was unexpected. Though being not a native of Quang Ninh, he was impressed by the sincerity and simplicity of local ethnic communities. He later learned that the golden camellia originated from eastern mountainous areas, mainly in the Mong Cai area of Quang Ninh. For generations, local people had known of the plant growing naturally in forests and fields, yet its value had not been properly recognised.
Realising its potential, he began encouraging residents to preserve the plant and not cut it down. He pointed out that Chinese buyers regarded the golden camellia as a “national treasure”, and Vietnam should also protect such a precious resource.
Quy became one of the pioneers in restoring systematic cultivation and conservation, linking with local farmers to safeguard and develop the product. Over time, the Quy Hoa golden camellia tea was born, reflecting the aspirations of both the business and the local community.
Quang Ninh is home to many valuable agricultural specialities, but the Quy Hoa golden camellia tea earned its five-star OCOP status thanks to methodical investment and technological application. Before 2013, Quy had recognised the plant’s value and worked to establish a farm, investing in machinery to produce tea professionally.
A key distinction lies in its freeze-drying sublimation technology, which helps golden camellia flowers retain their original shape, colour, and nutrients. Although requiring significant capital and long-term commitment, the technology has greatly enhanced product value, he said.
Quy proudly claimed he was the first to help locals realise that cooperation between businesses and communities goes beyond a simple buy-and-sell relationship and is actually a long-term partnership.
He expressed his hope that seasonal fairs such as the spring, summer and autumn editions will become annual events, helping enterprises bring products closer to consumers and encouraging sustainable agricultural development./.
