Hanoi (VNA) – Officials of the Secretariat of the Cambodia-Thailand Regional Border Committee (RBC) met on the morning of January 15 to strengthen the ceasefire recently agreed between the two sides, according to the spokesperson of Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defence.
As reported by Xinhua News Agency, the meeting, held at the Choam-Sa Ngam International Point of Entry in Cambodia's Oddar Meanchey province, was co-chaired by military officials from Cambodia and Thailand.
Both sides held discussions on a number of important matters concerning the strengthening of the implementation of the contents of the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special Meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) held on December 27 last year, as well as other relevant documents, spokeswoman Maly Socheata said in a press release.
She said Cambodia reaffirmed its firm, resolute, and sincere commitment to faithfully respect and implement the joint statement and other relevant documents, with the aim of seeking a peaceful, just, and lasting solution in accordance with international laws and existing treaties and agreements between the two countries.
Cambodia and Thailand agreed on an immediate ceasefire on December 27, 2025, after three weeks of conflict./.
Thailand, Cambodia ink new ceasefire agreement
Discussions to finalise the ceasefire agreement were approved in principle by the secretariats of the two countries’ General Border Committees (GBC) after three days of technical negotiations involving military officials.
