Bangkok (VNA) — The Royal Thai Air Force announced that a military aircraft crashed on January 29 morning in a forest area of Chiang Mai province in northern Thailand, killing two pilots.
According to Air Force spokesperson Jackkrit Thammanvichai, the aircraft involved was a two-seat AT-6TH light attack one, which went down while conducting a training flight for search-and-rescue operations under a simulated combat scenario.
As the crash occurred in a forest area, there was no impact on or damage to local residents. Thai authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
In April last year, six Thai police officers were killed when their aircraft crashed into the sea during a parachute training exercise near a resort town south of the capital Bangkok./.
