– Prime Minister Le Minh Hung called on the northern border province of Lao Cai to turn challenges into opportunities, transform its border location into strategic advantages and leveraging its unique strengths and potential as drivers of growth, while chairing a working session with the provincial Party Committee's Standing Board in Yen Bai ward on July 14.
For the second half of 2026 and beyond, PM Hung stressed that achieving double-digit growth will require innovative thinking, greater initiative and creativity, turning border advantages and local strengths into development resources while acting decisively to meet growth targets. Read full story
– The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee on July 14 reviewed the draft Law amending and supplementing several articles of the Law on the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), the Law on Anti-Money Laundering, and the Law on Credit Organisations, with the proposed legislation set to be submitted to the 16th NA’s first extraordinary session under an expedited legislative process.
According to the proposal, the SBV law amendments would codify existing foreign exchange rules by incorporating Article 22 of the Foreign Exchange Ordinance into law. The draft also revises the central bank’s special financial mechanism, shifting authority over its financial management regulations from the Prime Minister to the Government. Read full story
– The Government has ordered ministries, agencies and local authorities to sharpen forecasting capabilities and build response scenarios to keep inflation contained.
They were told to manage prices of essential goods with caution and flexibility, warning that room to absorb price shocks is narrowing. Read full story
– The 2026 economic census shows that Vietnam's economy has continued to expand, with the number of economic establishments increasing compared with the previous census. The business sector has further consolidated its role as the main driver of growth, while the household business sector is undergoing restructuring with significant changes in operating models and employment.
The preliminary findings were unveiled at a conference reviewing the census held by the National Statistics Office (NSO) under the Ministry of Finance on July 13. Read full story
– The Special Task Committees of Vietnam's An Giang province and Cambodia's Takeo province on July 14 signed a handover record for the remains of 14 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died during wartime and were recovered in Cambodia during the 2025–2026 dry season.

– The Government has issued Resolution No. 66.22/2026/NQ-CP on digital citizen development, officially designating October 15 each year as Vietnam Digital Citizen Day.
The resolution, taking effect from August 15, 2026 to February 28, 2027, establishes principles for developing digital citizens, stipulates beneficiaries of relevant policies, defines their rights and responsibilities, introduces State incentive policies, expands the national digital identity application (VNeID), and outlines the responsibilities of State agencies, organisations and providers of digital products and services. – A Vietnamese student delegation delivered an outstanding performance at the World Mathematics Invitational (WMI) 2026 in Tokyo, with all 34 contestants winning awards at the competition.
The Vietnamese team won two Diamond medals, five Gold medals, nine Silver medals, 11 Bronze medals and seven Honourable Mentions. Contestants competed in both multiple-choice and written examinations, with categories divided by grade level. Read full story./.
