- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has signed Dispatch No. 185/CD-TTg calling for urgent action to remedy the aftermath of Typhoon Bualoi and subsequent floods.
The document was sent to the chairpersons of the People’s Committees of Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Hai Phong, Hung Yen, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, Hue, Da Nang, Phu Tho, Tuyen Quang, Son La, Lao Cai, Cao Bang, Thai Nguyen, Bac Ninh, Dien Bien, and Lai Chau provinces and Hanoi, as well as to ministers and heads of Government agencies. - In his letter sent on October 3, State President Luong Cuong extended his warmest wishes to Vietnamese children nationwide and those abroad, ahead of the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival.
His message, filled with hope and encouragement, came at a time when many families are grappling with the recent typhoon's devastating aftermath. The leader kindly shared and sent his deepest regards to the children and families who are affected by the natural disaster. Read full story
- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the Deputy Prime Ministers, and staffs of the Government Office and the Government Party Committee’s assistant agencies each donated at least one day’s salary to help residents in areas devastated by recent storms and floods, at a fundraising ceremony hosted by the agencies in Hanoi on October 3.
A day earlier, PM Pham Minh Chinh approved over 2.52 trillion VND (over 95.5 million USD) from the central budget reserve in 2025 for 15 localities to support livelihoods; repair dikes, irrigation reservoirs and disaster prevention facilities; restore essential infrastructure; and resettle residents in urgent disaster-hit areas affected by natural disasters since early this year. - The Ministry of Construction has submitted a proposal to the Prime Minister outlining the distribution of flight operations between Long Thanh International Airport in the southern province of Dong Nai and Tan Son Nhat International Airport in neighbouring Ho Chi Minh City.
Under the plan, Long Thanh will handle 80% of international flights and 10% of domestic flights, while Tan Son Nhat will serve 20% of international and 90% of domestic flights. Read full story
- A nationwide campaign was launched by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee on October 3, calling on young people to support residents severely affected by Typhoon Bualoi, or locally known as Storm No. 10.
Nguyen Minh Triet, Secretary of the Youth Union Central Committee and President of the Vietnamese Students Association, said four storms struck the East Sea in September, with Bualoi inflicting the heaviest damage across the northern and north-central regions. Read full story
- Since April, Nui Chua National Park, part of the Nui Chua World Biosphere Reserve in southern Khanh Hoa province, has successfully rescued and released 1,301 baby turtles into the sea, reaffirming its commitment to conserving endangered sea turtle populations nesting on Vietnam’s mainland beaches.
From April to date, 57 female turtles have been recorded coming ashore at beaches within the park to search for nesting sites, with 30 successfully laying eggs. Of these, 16 nests have hatched with 1,631 eggs, while 14 nests are still being monitored. Rescue teams and volunteers have successfully released 1,301 hatchlings, mainly of the endangered green turtle species, which is listed in both Vietnam’s Red Data Book and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species.
