Singapore (VNA) – A high-level delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) led by Tran Cam Tu, Politburo member and Standing Member of the CPV Central Committee’s Secretariat, visited a meet-the-people session (MPS) branch of the People’s Action Party (PAP) of Singapore on the evening of August 24.
The activity formed part of Tu’s official visit to the city state, during which he is set to co-chair the first Vietnam–Singapore Strategic Dialogue.
The delegation was accompanied by Chan Chun Sing, Assistant Secretary-General of the PAP, Minister for Defence, and Coordinating Minister for Public Service.
At the PAP Tanjong Pagar-Tiong Bahru branch, the Vietnamese delegation was briefed on the operations of the MPS model, ways through which members of parliament and grassroots PAP officials directly receive feedback and address residents' daily issues, along with the role of community volunteers.
Highly valuing Singapore’s grassroots public governance and social welfare model, Tu emphasised that through close public outreach, both the PAP and CPV demonstrate a shared commitment to fostering strong ties with the people and improving every aspect of their lives, thus providing a solid foundation for national leadership.
This similarity serves as a strong anchor for political trust and multi-faceted cooperation between the two Parties, he added.
Following that, the delegation visited Lau Pa Sat, one of Singapore’s iconic heritage food markets located in the heart of the financial district. They tasted traditional dishes from the country’s "Hawker" street food culture – an intangible cultural heritage recognised by UNESCO./.
