- General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and President To Lam on August 24 chaired a working session with the Government’s Party Committee and relevant agencies on the national strategy for attracting, utilising and developing talent in key sectors and fields that contribute to rapid and sustainable national development in the new era.
General Secretary and President Lam stressed that talent is a particularly strategic national resource, and that the development, attraction and utilisation of talent must be placed within the overall national development strategy, with national interests and the implementation of strategic tasks as the highest priorities. - Politburo member and Standing member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee’s Secretariat Tran Cam Tu and a high-ranking CPV delegation arrived at Changi Airport at August 24 noon (local time), beginning a two-day official visit to Singapore at the invitation of the Central Executive Committee of the People’s Action Party (PAP) of Singapore.
Welcoming Tu at the airport were Singaporean Minister of State for Defence Desmond Choo, Director of International Relations at the Public Service Division Pragasam Christopher, Director-General of the Southeast Asia II Directorate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Zhou Suli, as well as Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore Tran Phuoc Anh and his spouse, along with a large number of embassy officials and staff members. - Lawmakers at the first extraordinary session of the 16th National Assembly on August 24 passed a law amending and supplementing several provisions of 10 laws concerning administrative procedures and business conditions in the agriculture and environment sector, with 93.4% of participating deputies voting in favour.

- Prime Minister Le Minh Hung has ordered ministries, agencies and local authorities to strengthen measures to ensure national security, public order and social safety during the National Day holiday from August 29 to September 2.
In an official dispatch signed on August 22, the PM noted that the holiday will feature events marking the 81st anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2, 1945 - 2026). AFP reported that Vietnam’s economy grew 8.4% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, exceeding the previous forecast of 7%.
