Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Le Minh Hung has ordered ministries, agencies and local authorities to strengthen measures to ensure national security, public order and social safety during the National Day holiday from August 29 to September 2.
In an official dispatch signed on August 22, the PM noted that the holiday will feature events marking the 81st anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2, 1945 - 2026). Increased travel and recreational activities could pose risks to security, public order, traffic and fire safety.
The PM asked ministries, agencies and local authorities to effectively implement Party and State directions on security and public order, closely monitor the situation, proactively thwart terrorist and sabotage activities, and respond to complex developments at an early stage and from the grassroots level.
Forces and equipment must remain on regular standby, particularly at the grassroots level, to ensure the security of key targets, important facilities and national events, as well as the safety of Party and State leaders, international delegations and people during the holiday. The Ministry of Public Security was tasked with coordinating with relevant agencies to monitor the situation and advise Party and State leaders on complex developments, while strengthening cybersecurity and preventing and responding to cyberattacks.
Police forces were ordered to intensify crime prevention and suppression, particularly against gambling, theft, robbery, extortion, drug use, illegal racing and public disorder, especially at crowded venues and during holiday activities. Authorities must prevent crimes and social vices from escalating or forming organised groups. Fire prevention and rescue efforts will be strengthened at high-risk and crowded places, with sufficient personnel and equipment deployed for timely response to fires and other incidents.
The PM also called for stronger public awareness of traffic safety rules and proactive traffic checks and management at crowded venues, event sites and gateways to major cities, in line with Official Dispatch No. 55/CD-TTg dated August 19.
The Ministry of National Defence was requested to maintain combat readiness and coordinate with relevant agencies to closely monitor developments in the airspace, waters, border areas, inland areas and cyberspace, while strengthening patrols and controls along borders and in border areas.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism was tasked with coordinating with the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee's Commission for Publicity and the Ministry of Public Security to promote public awareness of security, public order and fire safety, while preventing harmful and malicious information that undermines the great national unity in cyberspace.
The provincial and municipal People’s Committees must closely monitor local developments, step up prevention measures and strictly handle violations, particularly those involving fire and explosion safety and social vices, the oficial dispatch stressed./.
Ho Chi Minh City to start works, inaugurate 16 projects on National Day
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction, the southern metropolis will start 11 projects and put five works into operation in transport, technical infrastructure, housing, civil construction and industry, with total investment exceeding 249.4 trillion VND (9.5 billion USD).
