Singapore (VNA) – Politburo member and Standing member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee’s Secretariat Tran Cam Tu and a high-ranking CPV delegation on August 24 paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at the statue and memorial plaque dedicated to the late leader within the campus of the Asian Civilisations Museum in Singapore.
As part of his ongoing official visit to the island nation, Tu and the delegation respectfully laid a wreath and observed a minute’s silence in remembrance of the founder of modern Vietnam and his immense contributions to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.
They pledged to continue studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality and style, and to realise his aspiration of building Vietnam into an increasingly prosperous and strong nation that stands shoulder to shoulder with the world’s major powers.
In May 2008, on the occasion of the 118th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh and the 35th anniversary of Vietnam-Singapore diplomatic relations, Singapore’s National Heritage Board inaugurated a memorial plaque dedicated to the late Vietnamese leader on the grounds of the museum.
Later, friends of Vietnam at the board, the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore and the Ho Chi Minh Museum in Hanoi came up with the idea of placing a statue of President Ho Chi Minh next to the memorial plaque. Installed in September 2011, the statue, together with those of other Asian leaders and eminent figures, is prominently displayed in the museum’s campus, highlighting the historical connections among Asian cultures and between Asia and the wider world./.
