Hanoi (VNA) – President of the National Assembly (NA) of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire Patrick Achi arrived in Hanoi on the evening of August 22, beginning his official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of President of the Vietnamese NA Tran Thanh Man.

NA President Achi and his entourage were greeted at Noi Bai International Airport by Vu Hai Ha, Standing Deputy Chairman of the NA Committee for National Defence, Security and External Relations.

The visit, from August 23-26, comes shortly after Vietnam and Côte d’Ivoire marked the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic relations (October 6, 1975–2025). It is a vivid testament to the enduring friendship nurtured between the two countries over the past half century, while demonstrating the strong determination of their leaders to usher bilateral ties – particularly parliamentary and economic-trade cooperation – into a new phase of deeper, more substantive and effective development.

Spokeswoman for the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang said this is the second visit to Vietnam by a head of Côte d’Ivoire’s legislature within just three years. Notably, this is also the first time the Ivorian NA has organised a delegation dedicated to in-depth study, experience-sharing and exchanges with its Vietnamese counterpart, reflecting Côte d’Ivoire’s high regard for Vietnam and its legislature.

During the visit, NA President Achi is expected to meet with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President To Lam, hold talks with NA President Man, and meet other senior Vietnamese leaders to discuss measures to further promote bilateral cooperation./.
