Hanoi, (VNA) - The following is a list of selected news summaries reported last weekend by the Vietnam News Agency.

-PrimeMinister Pham Minh Chinh, his spouse and the Vietnamese delegation arrived inHanoi late December 3, concluding their working trip to attend the WorldClimate Action Summit within the framework of the 28th Conference of theParties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), bilateralactivities in the UAE and pay an official visit to Turkey from November 29 toDecember 3.

Duringthe five-day trip to the UAE and Turkey, the PM attended around 60 activitiesboth bilateral and multilateral. Besides participating in and speaking atconferences and events within COP28, he held bilateral meetings and workingsessions with more than 30 leaders of countries, international organistions andworld leading enterprises. He also met with leaders of the UAE and Turkey, andattended bilateral conferences and forums with the two countries.Read full text

-The PM attended the Group of 77 (G77) summit on climatechange in Dubai on December 2 (local time), as part of the 28th Conference ofthe Parties (COP28) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Changethere.
The event was chaired by President MiguelDiaz-Canel Bermudez of Cuba, which holds the 2023 chairmanship of G77 – a groupof developing countries. The two sides compared notes on the Vietnam-Chinarelations and measures to further promote the coordination role of the twoforeign ministries in implementing high-level common perceptions andresults reached at the 15th Meeting of the Vietnam-China SteeringCommittee for Bilateral Cooperation; and continue deepening thebilateral relations, thus contributing to peace, cooperation and development inthe region and the world.Read full text

-The 15th Meeting of the Vietnam-China SteeringCommittee for Bilateral Cooperation was held in Hanoi on December 1under the co-chair of Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang andPolitburo member, Director of the Communist Party of China (CPC) CentralCommittee’s Foreign Affairs Commission Office and Minister of Foreign AffairsWang Yi.
At the meeting, the two sides reviewed newdevelopment steps in the bilateral relations since the 14th meeting in July2022, agreeing that the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperativepartnership has maintained a positive development momentum and achieved manyimportant results.Read full text

-The 13th National Congress of the Vietnam GeneralConfederation of Labour (VGCL) for the 2023-2028 tenure opened in Hanoi onDecember 2, bringing together 1,100 delegates representing more than 11 milliontrade union members nationwide.

-Vietnam haswon the World’s Leading Heritage Destination 2023 title of the World TravelAwards for the fourth time so far, reported the Vietnam National Authority ofTourism (VNAT).
The award presentation ceremony recently tookplace in Dubai.

Vietnam, China seek stronger, more substantive cooperation

Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc called on China to facilitate Vietnamese agricultural exports, deepen cooperation on quarantine and soon sign a memorandum of understanding designating Vietnam as the featured country for the "Shared Big Market: Export to China Series Activities" in 2027.

Vietnam seeks stronger defence ties with partners at 13th Beijing Xiangshan Forum

In the coming time, the Vietnamese Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defence hope to work with their Chinese counterparts to maintain, develop, and strengthen the agreed-upon areas of cooperation, effectively sustain existing cooperation mechanisms, and foster increasingly substantive ties, said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence General Phan Van Giang.

Thai King, Queen conclude State visit to Vietnam

Vietnam and Thailand agreed to continue strengthening political trust through regular visits and contacts at all levels, especially the high level, while making effective use of existing cooperation mechanisms and coordinating in implementing their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership effectively.

Thai King and Queen visit Hanoi University

Hanoi University currently maintains cooperation with nearly 20 Thai higher education institutions, including Chulalongkorn University, Assumption University and Mahasarakham University. Italian Navy ship pays goodwill visit to Vietnam

Vietnam, Burundi seek to deepen multifaceted cooperation
