Bangkok (VNA) - Thailand and the United Kingdom are pushing for the opening of negotiations on a bilateral free trade agreement (FTA) at all levels, along with pursuing joint efforts to explore channels to expand two-way trade and investment.

The United Kingdom is Thailand’s 22nd trading partner, with bilateral trade in the first half of 2025 reaching over 2.6 billion USD.

Major Thai exports to the UK market include processed chicken, vehicles and parts, machinery and parts, and gems and jewelry.

Based on official statistics, two-way trade was in favour of Thailand, and the two countries are encouraging increased exports of UK goods and investment projects to Thailand.

Besides, Thailand is exploring more trade opportunities in other potential markets, including the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America, while accelerating the signing of the Thailand-European Union (EU) Free Trade Agreement./.
