Thanh Hoa man faces charges for anti-State social media activity

Between 2023 and 2025, Le Minh Vu in Thanh Hoa province repeatedly used a Facebook account bearing his own name and a fan page titled “Le Minh Vu electronic portal – A place to send petitions to recipients” to post content described as unfounded, hostile and dismissive toward the Party, State and government agencies.

Thanh Hoa (VNA) – Police in the central province of Thanh Hoa on January 14 launched a criminal case and detained a local man on charges of “abusing the rights to freedom and democracy to infringe upon the interests of the State and the lawful rights and interests of organisations and individuals" under Article 331 of Penal Code.

The detained is Le Minh Vu, 58, residing in Hai Binh ward.

Between 2023 and 2025, Vu repeatedly used a Facebook account bearing his own name and a fan page titled “Le Minh Vu electronic portal – A place to send petitions to recipients” to post content described as unfounded, hostile and dismissive toward the Party, State and government agencies. The posts were also alleged to have insulted and defamed the reputation of Party, State and local leaders.

The content showed signs of infringing upon State interests, harming political security and social safety and order, causing public confusion while creating distorted and negative perceptions of personnel work and the operations of state agencies, according to investigators.

A search of his residence resulted in the seizure of multiple documents and items related to the alleged offences.

The case remains under further investigation in accordance with the law./.
