- Party General Secretary and State President To Lam on July 15 affirmed that caring for revolutionary contributors is both a political responsibility and a moral obligation, calling for more comprehensive and timely policies to ensure that those who sacrificed for the nation receive the care and respect they deserve.

The top leader made the remarks during a visit to Thuan Thanh Invalids Nursing Centre in Bac Ninh province ahead of the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (July 27, 1947–2026). Read full story

- Prime Minister Le Minh Hung on July 15 called on Lang Son province to capitalise on its strategic border location by transforming its border-gate economy into a new engine of growth, and accelerate institutional reforms, infrastructure development and digital transformation to achieve double-digit economic growth.

PM Hung made the request while chairing a working session with the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee to review the province’s socio-economic performance, public investment disbursement, implementation of the two-tier local administration model, enforcement of the Politburo's Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on science and technology development, innovation and digital transformation, and measures to remove development bottlenecks. - Prime Minister Le Minh Hung on July 15 offered incense and laid flowers in tribute to fallen soldiers at the Lang Son martyrs' cemetery during a working visit to the northern province of the same name.

Accompanying the leader were Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Dang Xuan Phong; Minister of Agriculture and Environment Trinh Viet Hung; Secretary of the Lang Son Party Committee Hoang Quoc Khanh; Deputy Minister of National Defence Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang; and Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Dang Hong Duc; among others. - With the revised Power Development Plan VIII (PDP8) and a new legal framework paving the way, battery energy storage systems (BESS) are expected to become a key enabler of Vietnam's energy transition, strengthening energy security and supporting the country's goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

The revised PDP8 identifies renewable energy as a cornerstone of Vietnam's energy transition. By 2030, renewables (excluding hydropower) are projected to account for 28–36% of the country's total installed power capacity, with solar power reaching 46,459–73,416 MW. At the same time, energy storage systems, including BESS and pumped-storage hydropower, are planned to reach a combined capacity of 10,000–16,300 MW, enhancing the flexibility of the national power grid. Speaking on the strategic direction set out at the 14th National Party Congress, experts from the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) highlighted the need to unlock new motivations for growth while balancing economic expansion with environmental protection and governance reform. - Deputy Minister of Finance Nguyen Duc Chi had a working session with representatives of Japan's Financial Services Agency (JFSA) and Securities and Exchange Surveillance Commission (SESC) in Tokyo on July 14 to exchange experience in securities market development, financial regulation and innovation, as Vietnam moves to revise its Securities Law and further develop its capital market.

The meeting was part of a trip by officials from Vietnam's Ministry of Finance and State Securities Commission (SSC) to Japan and the Republic of Korea to study securities market development, new financial products and regulatory frameworks in support of amendments to Vietnam's Securities Law. - Authorities of An Giang province and Cambodia's Kampong Speu province on July 14 completed the handover of the remains of 81 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and military experts recovered during the 2025–2026 dry-season search campaign.

Senior Party official offers incense at Kim Lien, Dong Loc memorial sites

At the Kim Lien site, Tu and accompanying delegates offered flowers and incense in memory of President Ho Chi Minh, the beloved leader of the Vietnamese nation, a national liberation hero and a great man of culture who devoted his life to the revolutionary cause of the Party, the nation and the people, as well as to peace and social progress worldwide.

PM urges Lang Son to turn border advantages into new growth drivers

The Government leader instructed Lang Son province to vigorously implement its growth plan for the second half of 2026, with the goal of achieving annual GRDP growth of at least 10%. He called for clear accountability across agencies, regular updates to monthly and quarterly growth scenarios, close monitoring of key growth drivers, and periodic reporting to ensure timely policy responses.

Indian Embassy thanks Vietnam for support after Phu Quoc boat tragedy

The embassy said on its official X account that the flight carrying the victims' mortal remains departed Ho Chi Minh City on July 13 and arrived in Mumbai later the same day. Authorities in the Indian states of Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Tamil Nadu coordinated the transportation of the remains to their final destinations.

Da Nang marks 55 years of Vietnam–Chile diplomatic relations
