Hanoi (VNA) – Standing Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Loc Ha on July 6 received the commanders of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy's 83rd taskforce, which are on a visit to the southern metropolis to strengthen exchanges and mutual understanding between the two countries’ navies.
Welcoming Senior Colonels Liu Zhanfeng and Xu Jianguo, and officers and sailors of the taskforce, Ha said the visit helps implement the important common perceptions reached by the senior leaders of the two Parties, States and militaries of Vietnam and China on promoting more substantive defence-security cooperation, enhancing political trust and deepening mutual understanding.
He noted that the visit further strengthens the Vietnam–China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and the Vietnam–China community with a shared future, while reflecting the growing cooperation between the two countries and Ho Chi Minh City's international standing.
Regarding future cooperation orientations, Ha proposed key priorities, including promoting regular exchanges and working visits between leaders of Ho Chi Minh City and Chinese localities; deepening cooperation in strategic areas such as digital, green and circular economies, science-technology, innovation, smart manufacturing, and clean energy; working together to develop modern transport infrastructure, particularly urban railways, metro systems and standard-gauge railways; while enhancing exchanges of experience in planning, construction, management and operation of multimodal transport networks; expanding cooperation in tourism and people-to-people exchanges; and strengthening maritime cooperation.
Ha expressed his belief that the visit will leave the Chinese officers and sailors with positive impressions of Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City, and that they will serve as a bridge to strengthen cooperation between the navies of the two nations.
Liu said that the flotilla, which comprises the training ship Qi Jjiguang (Hull 83) and amphibious dock landing ship Kunlun Shan (Hull 998), will hold a series of cultural and sports exchange activities during its stay in Ho Chi Minh City.
He added that the two sides will exchange professional experience, strengthen ties, and further promote friendship, trust, and mutual understanding between the two navies in particular and the two militaries in general, contributing to the continued development of bilateral relations./.
