- Party General Secretary and President To Lam received in Hanoi on July 6 the newly accredited ambassadors of Portugal, Iran, Mongolia, the US and Myanmar, as they presented their credentials, officially beginning their diplomatic missions in Vietnam.

Receiving Portuguese Ambassador Joaquim Alberto De Sousa Moreira De Lemos, the first resident ambassador of Portugal to Vietnam, General Secretary and State President Lam affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to developing relations with Portugal, describing the country as an important partner within the European Union (EU). - National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man on July 6 called on the legislature's agencies to renew their thinking to improve the quality of policy advice, take more decisive action to enhance effectiveness, and maintain discipline to strengthen trust to better serve the people.

Chairing a mid-year review conference between NA leaders, the NA's agencies and the NA Office, the top legislator outlined key tasks for the second half of 2026, stressing that performance should be measured by tangible results and the quality of service provided for deputies, voters and the public. - Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, Chairman of the Central Council for Emulation and Commendation, chaired the council’s second meeting for the 2026–2031 term at the Government headquarters in Hanoi on the afternoon of July 6.

The council reviewed its performance and the implementation of emulation and commendation work during the first half of the year, agreed on key tasks for the remainder of 2026, and considered nominations for the conferment and posthumous conferment of the “Hero of the People's Armed Forces” and “Hero of Labour” titles on collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements. - Vietnam is scheduled to host two major meetings of the ASEAN Occupational Safety and Health Network (ASEAN-OSHNET) in the central city of Da Nang from July 7 to 9, reaffirming its active role in promoting regional cooperation on safer and healthier workplaces.

Organised by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the events comprise the 13th ASEAN-OSHNET Conference (AOC-13) and the 27th ASEAN-OSHNET Coordinating Board Meeting (CBM-27), looking to advance digital transformation in occupational safety and health management in ASEAN towards the ASEAN Vision 2045. - Vietnam's pepper exports maintained strong growth in the first half of 2026 despite tightening domestic supplies, according to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association.

In June, Vietnam exported 23,103 tonnes of pepper worth 151.3 million USD, down from the previous month as shipments to Asia, Africa and the Americas slowed, while demand from Europe remained stable. Exports to the US and Europe continued to grow year-on-year, helping sustain demand in key markets. Read full story

- Vietnam exported an estimated 150,000 tonnes of coffee worth 552.6 million USD in June, bringing total exports in the first half of the year to 1.1 million tonnes valued at 4.78 billion USD. Export volume rose 9.7% from a year earlier, while export value fell 14.4%, underscoring mounting challenges for the industry.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the average export price in the January - June period fell 22% year-on-year to around 4,435 USD per tonne, signalling that the period of benefiting from elevated coffee prices in 2024-2025 is gradually coming to an end. Read full story

- Vietnam will host the Esports Grand Championship (EGC) 2026 for the first time, according to the Sports Authority of Vietnam.

The international tournament, endorsed by the Southeast Asian Esports Federation and recognised under Olympic-standard achievement criteria, will take place from July 9 to 12 at the My Dinh Athletics Palace in Hanoi as part of The Grand Esports 2026 series. Read full story

National Assembly's Party Committee to establish research unit

The Standing Board approved the formation of the specialised research unit, describing it as a necessary step to implement the orientations of the Politburo and the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat while strengthening the NA Party Committee's research and advisory capacity.

Prime Minister reaffirms commitment to recovering all fallen soldiers’ remains

The launch of the search and recovery operation for martyrs’ remains at Le Thi Rieng Park in Ho Chi Minh City on July 6 is part of the nationwide 500-day campaign launched in April in Quang Tri province ahead of the 80th anniversary of Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947–2027), underscoring Vietnam’s determination to better care for people with meritorious service and fulfil the long-standing aspirations of martyrs’ families nationwide.
