– Tasks under the Politburo’s Resolution 57 on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation will be considered complete only when they deliver concrete products and values, backed by verifiable data and measurable effectiveness for end users, said Party General Secretary and State President To Lam.
Speaking at a July 1 hybrid conference in Hanoi reviewing the 18-month implementation of the resolution, General Secretary and President Lam praised ministries, agencies, local authorities, research institutes, universities, business community, intellectuals, scientists and the public for pushing the resolution forward. – National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man highlighted the importance of building a regular, elite and modern external security force while addressing a ceremony in Hanoi on July 1 marking the 80th anniversary of the force’s traditional day (July 12, 1946 – 2026).

– Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Anh Tuan paid a working trip to Abuja, capital of Nigeria, from June 29-30 to deepen Vietnam’s ties with West African nations.
During the trip, Tuan held talks with Permanent Secretary of the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dunoma Umar Ahmed, sat down with Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sola Enikanolaiye and Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment Chris Osa Isokpunwu, visited the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) headquarters, and held working session with President of the ECOWAS Commission Omar Alieu Touray. – Vietnam's fruit and vegetable export turnover reached 3.65 billion USD in the first six months of 2026, up 17.8% year-on-year, making the sector one of the fastest-growing export groups in the agriculture and environment sector.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MAE), fruit and vegetable exports were estimated at 2.18 billion USD in the second quarter. Read full story
– Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) announced on July 1 that it had held discussions with relevant stakeholders on operational scenarios for Long Thanh International Airport, with most domestic and international airlines expressing a wish to launch services at the airport once it enters operation.
Long Thanh airport is being developed in Long Thanh ward, the southern province of Dong Nai, across an area of 5,000 hectares with a planned capacity of 100 million passengers and 5 million tonnes of cargo annually over three development phases. Located approximately 40–43 km from Ho Chi Minh City’s bustling Tan Son Nhat International Airport, it is set to become Vietnam’s largest airport and is intended to serve as a regional aviation hub. – The United Overseas Bank (UOB) Vietnam on July 1 broke ground on UOB Plaza Ho Chi Minh City, its new headquarters commanding a total cost of some 450 million USD.
The project is the first purpose-built headquarters developed and owned by a foreign bank within the Vietnam International Financial Centre in Ho Chi Minh City (VIFC-HCMC). Read full story
– Construction of a wind power plant began in the Khai Long – Ca Mau tourism area in Dat Mui commune, the southernmost province of Ca Mau, on July 1, marking a step toward strengthening national energy security, supporting the locality's double-digit growth target and advancing green transition.
The project, invested by BCG Energy through the BCG – Khai Long 1 Wind Power JSC with a total investment of over 6.32 trillion VND (about 240 million USD), has a designed capacity of 100 MW. It covers a total area of 480.73 ha, including 454 ha offshore and 26.73 ha on land. Read full story./.
