- The introduction of Vietnam's national agricultural product traceability system is a major step in the digital transformation of the agriculture and environment sector, helping enhance the quality, transparency and global competitiveness of the country's farm produce, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung said at the launch ceremony in Hanoi on June 30.

- Less than two months after announcing its plan to open a direct service to Sri Lanka, Vietnam Airlines has decided to bring forward the launch of its Ho Chi Minh City – Colombo route to August 16 in response to rapidly growing travel demand between the two countries.
To mark the inauguration, the national flag carrier is offering promotional round-trip fares starting from 7 million VND (266 USD).
The route will be operated by Airbus A321 aircraft with three flights per week. Departures from Ho Chi Minh City are scheduled for Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays while return flights from Colombo will take off on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Read full story
- A rare elongated tortoise was released back into the wild at the Pu Hoat Nature Reserve in the central province of Nghe An on June 29 after being voluntarily handed over by a local resident, according to the Que Phong Forest Protection Department.
The tortoise (Indotestudo elongata), weighing about 3.5kg and measuring nearly 30cm in length, was released after forest rangers, local authorities and the reserve's management board confirmed that it was healthy and fit to return to its natural habitat. Earlier, the animal was voluntarily handed over by a resident of Tien Phong commune.
The elongated tortoise is listed in Vietnam's Red Data Book and is classified as a Group IIB endangered forest species under Vietnamese law. It is also listed as Critically Endangered (CR) by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. Hunting, trading and possessing the species are strictly prohibited./. Read full story
