Hanoi (VNA) - The following is a list of selected news summaries reported last weekend by the Vietnam News Agency.

- Prime Minister Le Minh Hung on June 27 stressed the need to strictly adhere to implementation schedules for key national transport projects, saying that deadlines must not be extended unless there are objective reasons, as he chaired a meeting reviewing the implementation of major and important national transport projects in the first half of this year.

The meeting of the State Steering Committee for major and important national projects in the transport sector was held in a hybrid format, connecting the Government Office in Hanoi with the offices of the People’s Committees of 31 localities hosting the projects. Read full story

- The Ministry of Public Security, in coordination with the Hanoi People's Committee, on June 27 held a meeting to launch the Month of Action for Drug Prevention and Control under the theme "Sharing a Determination to Build Drug-Free Communes, Wards and Special Zones."

Opening the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra, Chairwoman of the National Committee for AIDS, Drugs and Prostitution Prevention and Control, paid tribute to the People's Public Security, the Border Guard, and other law enforcement forces for their unwavering dedication, courage and sacrifice in combating drug-related crimes. - The Ministry of National Defence held a meeting in Hanoi on June 28 to assign tasks for the force tasked with supporting relief operations in Venezuela following the devastating earthquakes that struck the South American country on June 24.

Accordingly, an 82-member military contingent was assigned to carry out humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations in Venezuela, marking Vietnam’s third overseas military deployment for international disaster response. Read full story

- The Ministry of Public Security held a departure ceremony in Hanoi on June 28 for a 41-member search and rescue team heading to Venezuela.

- Vietnam has completed preparations for the launch of its first domestic carbon exchange on June 29 as scheduled under the Government's roadmap, the State Securities Commission (SSC) announced.

Vietnamese military brings international search-and-rescue experience to Venezuela

Speaking on the sidelines of the Ministry of National Defence’s conference assigning tasks to personnel participating in the humanitarian and disaster-relief mission, Major General Ty, who is head of the Vietnamese military mission to Venezuela, also stressed that the deployment reflects Vietnam’s commitment to international solidarity and humanitarian responsibility.
