- Party General Secretary and State President To Lam on June 30 emphasised the need for a fundamental shift in Vietnam’s approach to foreign investment, affirming that the country aims to use external resources to strengthen domestic capabilities and strategic autonomy rather than simply attract capital.
Addressing a national conference in Hanoi on studying, disseminating and implementing the Politburo’s Resolution No. 10-NQ/TW on developing the foreign-invested economic sector, General Secretary and State President Lam said the resolution marks a major change in development thinking after nearly 40 years of attracting foreign investment. - Acting President of Venezuela Delcy Rodríguez on June 29 expressed thanks to Vietnam for its solidarity and timely assistance after two consecutive earthquakes caused extensive damage in Caracas and La Guaira state.

Both sides expressed delight at the positive momentum of Vietnam-China relations, singling out the April 2026 state visit to China by General Secretary of the CPV Central Committee and State President To Lam as an important milestone that set a strategic course for ties as both countries embark on a new growth phase. Amid intensifying competition among regional destinations, Vietnam has strengthened its position on the global tourism map. - Leading US business magazine Fortune has described Vietnam as an emerging tourism “hot spot” in Southeast Asia, driven by the strong rise of destinations such as Phu Quoc and Sa Pa. Behind the record numbers of international arrivals is the convergence of more open policies and the growing role of the private sector in shaping world-class tourism ecosystems.
For many years, Thailand was almost the default choice for international travellers visiting Southeast Asia. According to Fortune, however, that landscape is changing rapidly. In 2025, Vietnam welcomed more than 21 million international visitors for the first time, up 20% from the previous year and setting a new record for the country’s tourism industry.
