Addressing a national conference in Hanoi on studying, disseminating and implementing the Politburo’s Resolution No. 10-NQ/TW on developing the foreign-invested economic sector, General Secretary and State President Lam said the resolution marks a major change in development thinking after nearly 40 years of attracting foreign investment. - Vietnam is recalibrating its foreign direct investment (FDI) attraction strategy towards higher quality and greater efficiency, shifting from a focus on attracting capital to effectively leveraging international resources in combination with domestic strengths to drive new growth momentum, heard a national conference on June 30.

The message was delivered at the hybrid conference on studying and implementing the Politburo’s Resolution No. 10-NQ/TW on developing the foreign-invested economic sector, where delegates also viewed a documentary on four decades of FDI attraction in Vietnam before hearing a presentation by Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc. - Head of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee's Commission for Internal Affairs Le Minh Tri praised Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam He Wei and the Chinese embassy for propelling ties between the two Parties and countries during a reception in Hanoi on June 30.

Both sides expressed delight at the positive momentum of Vietnam-China relations, singling out the April 2026 state visit to China by General Secretary of the CPV Central Committee and State President To Lam as an important milestone that set a strategic course for ties as both countries embark on a new growth phase. - Vietnam and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on defence industry cooperation during talks between their defence ministries' high-ranking delegations on June 30.

- Vietnam is emerging as one of Southeast Asia’s hottest tourism destinations, with rapid growth in international arrivals underscoring its increasing appeal to key markets and its commitment to developing a high-quality, sustainable tourism industry, said the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT), citing the US magazine Fortune.

Amid intensifying competition among regional destinations, Vietnam has strengthened its position on the global tourism map. It has overtaken Thailand to become the most popular destination for Chinese travellers in Southeast Asia, welcoming nearly 5.3 million visitors from the market. Read full text

- Leading US business magazine Fortune has described Vietnam as an emerging tourism “hot spot” in Southeast Asia, driven by the strong rise of destinations such as Phu Quoc and Sa Pa. Behind the record numbers of international arrivals is the convergence of more open policies and the growing role of the private sector in shaping world-class tourism ecosystems.

For many years, Thailand was almost the default choice for international travellers visiting Southeast Asia. According to Fortune, however, that landscape is changing rapidly. In 2025, Vietnam welcomed more than 21 million international visitors for the first time, up 20% from the previous year and setting a new record for the country’s tourism industry. Notably, in the same year, Vietnam also surpassed Thailand to become the most popular destination for Chinese travellers, with around 5.3 million arrivals./. Read full text

Vietnam, UAE sign MoU on defence industry cooperation

Defence cooperation has recorded positive progress in line with the Vietnam–UAE Comprehensive Partnership. During recent high-level meetings and exchanges, leaders of the two countries reached an important common understanding on strengthening bilateral defence cooperation, including defence industry collaboration, while continuing to support major events hosted by each side.

Ho Chi Minh City, Canada strengthen people-to-people friendship

Canada currently has nearly 300 valid foreign direct investment (FDI) projects in Vietnam with total registered capital of 4.87 billion USD. It is also Vietnam's second-largest trading partner in the Americas, with two-way trade reaching approximately 8.5 billion USD in 2025.

Vietnam shifts FDI attraction strategy towards higher quality, greater efficiency

Vietnam’s approach is undergoing a fundamental transformation. While attracting international resources was the central priority over the past nearly four decades, the next phase will focus on enhancing the effectiveness of those resources in synergy with domestic capacities to strengthen development capabilities, economic resilience and national competitiveness.

Algeria eyes stronger parliamentary ties with Vietnam

Nasri affirmed that Algeria, under the leadership of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, attaches importance to effectively implementing the Strategic Partnership with Vietnam by enhancing political dialogue; expanding economic, trade and investment cooperation; and promoting cultural and people-to-people exchanges.

National conference held to disseminate Politburo's Resolution No. 10-NQ/TW

Party General Secretary and State President To Lam attended and delivered a keynote speech at the event, which was linked to nearly 35,000 venues from central to commune levels, government agencies and military units, attracting almost 2.1 million delegates. It was broadcast live on Vietnam Television and Voice of Vietnam channels.
