Hanoi (VNA) – Honda Vietnam posted strong sales in June, with automobile deliveries surging 31.5% year-on-year while motorcycle sales rose 4.7%, reinforcing the company’s dominant position in Vietnam’s two-wheeler market.

The company sold 172,299 motorcycles in June, up 4.7% from the same month last year, highlighting steady consumer demand even as the market gradually shifts towards greener transport options. For the first six months of 2026, motorcycle sales reached 515,743 units, up 0.6% year-on-year.

Honda Vietnam also continued to expand its export activities, shipping 20,358 motorcycles overseas last month and reaffirming Vietnam’s role as one of the company’s major manufacturing bases in the region.

The figures were released as the Vietnam Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers (VAMM) reported that combined sales of its five members reached 638,431 units in the second quarter of 2026, up 4.4% year-on-year. With more than 172,000 motorcycles sold in June alone, Honda accounted for roughly 86% of the market, maintaining its overwhelming lead.

Despite plans in several localities to gradually curb internal combustion engine vehicles and encourage electric mobility, demand for motorcycles has remained resilient, underscoring their continued importance in daily transport while manufacturers broaden their electrified product portfolio.

Honda’s automobile business delivered even stronger growth. The company sold 2,002 vehicles in June, a 31.5% increase from a year earlier. Its car sales in the first half of 2026 rose 10.7% year-on-year to 5,702 units.

Growth in the car segment was supported by strong demand for key models, including the City, CR-V, HR-V and Civic, along with promotional campaigns featuring price incentives, preferential financing and registration fee support. A gradual recovery in demand from both household and business buyers also contributed to the broader market’s rebound./.
