Bangkok (VNA) – The Thai King and Queen presided over a royal ceremony to open a new parliamentary session in Bangkok on March 14.
In his address at the ceremony, King Maha Vajiralongkorn called upon the parliamentarians to execute their legislative duties on behalf of the entire country by upholding righteousness and public interest.
He stressed that all parliamentary debates should strictly adhere to constitutional principles to truly benefit the nation and offered his blessings for the smooth operation of the National Assembly.
Under the Constitution of Thailand, the NA is a bicameral legislative body consisting of the House of Representatives, with 500 seats, and the Senate, with 200 seats. Members of the House of Representatives are elected through direct elections, including 400 constituencies and 100 party-list seats, while Senate members are generally appointed or selected through a special vetting process./.
