220-kg wartime bomb safely neutralised in Da Nang

A wartime bomb weighing more than 220kg has been safely defused by the Military Command of Da Nang city after being discovered in Tra Tan commune on October 2.

Da Nang (VNA) - A wartime bomb weighing more than 220kg has been safely defused by the Military Command of Da Nang city after being discovered in Tra Tan commune on October 2.

Local residents found the bomb while planting trees and promptly reported it to local authorities, the commune’s Military Command, and relevant units.

A bomb disposal team was dispatched to the site to survey the device, assess its type and level of danger, and take safety measures. The same day, specialised equipment was deployed to dismantle and transport the bomb to a safe location for detonation in line with regulations.

According to the city Military Command, the bomb measured more than one metre in length and had high destructive power, posing a serious threat to nearby communities.

The timely detection and disposal highlight both the vigilance of local residents and the professionalism of Da Nang’s armed forces in addressing wartime remnants and ensuring public safety./.

Man jailed for smashing Nguyen Dynasty throne armrest

According to the indictment, Tam bought an admission ticket to the citadel around noon on May 24, 2025. Once inside Thai Hoa Palace, he climbed over a protective barrier, sat on the "Nguyen Dynasty Throne", and broke off the front-left armrest before striking the artifact further and shattering the broken section into multiple pieces.

Nearly 700 administrative procedures abolished

Vietnam handles over 2.39 million traffic violations in H1

According to the Traffic Police Department, the country recorded 7,773 traffic accidents during the six-month period, killing 4,877 people and injuring 4,486. Compared with the same period last year, accidents fell by 17.4%, fatalities by 8.4% and injuries by 28%.
