- The Vietnamese Government has issued a decree detailing several mechanisms and policies to channel resources into deeper global integration under the National Assembly’s Resolution 250/2025/QH15.
The June 30 decree covers civil servants, public employees, officers of the armed forces, personnel engaged in foreign affairs and international integration, alongside scientists, experts in global integration, and educational establishments specialising in international integration. - The Ministry of National Defence on July 3 held a ceremony to present decisions from the State President and the Minister of National Defence to three officers departing for United Nations peacekeeping duties at the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).
Notably, among the three officers, Lieutenant Colonel Luong Truong Vinh will assume the position of Senior Liaison Officer and Head of the Military Observers’ Office within UNMISS. This is a new post and marks the first time a Vietnamese military officer has been entrusted by the United Nations with a senior-level position in a UN peacekeeping mission. Read full story
- Vietnam's economy grew an estimated 8.39% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, with all major sectors posting solid gains despite persistent global uncertainties, according to the National Statistics Office (NSO).
Releasing the country's socio-economic data for the second quarter and the first half of the year on July 3, NSO Director Nguyen Thi Huong said Vietnam sustained positive growth across most industries and sectors despite a challenging international economic environment. Read full story
- Vietnam attracted 34.65 billion USD in foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first six months of 2026, while disbursed FDI reached its highest first-half level in five years, according to the National Statistics Office (NSO).
As of June 30, total registered FDI, including newly registered capital, additional capital for existing projects and foreign investors' capital contributions and share purchases, rose 61% year-on-year to 34.65 billion USD. Read full story
- Vietnam’s electric vehicle (EV) market has entered a strong growth phase, with nearly 375,000 EVs (excluding motorbikes) on roads nationwide as of the end of May, according to the Ministry of Construction.
Private passenger vehicles account for the overwhelming majority, with 369,849 battery electric passenger cars in operation, alongside 3,396 electric trucks and 1,571 electric buses. Read full story
- Vietnam’s search-and-rescue operation pressed on July 2 (local time), dispatching multiple task forces to find victims still trapped after twin earthquakes struck the Playa Grande area in Venezuela’s La Guaira state.
The forces widened the search zone following pleas from victims’ families, pulling seven more bodies from the rubble. They also worked with local authorities to identify and hand over 12 locations where victims are suspected to remain buried. The mission has so far recovered a total of 30 bodies from collapsed structures. Read full story
- Vietnam’s total import-export turnover in June reached 104.22 billion USD, up 5.2% month-on-month and 36.3% year-on-year, according to a socio-economic report for the second quarter and first half of 2026 released on July 3 by the National Statistics Office (NSO) under the Ministry of Finance.
Overall, total trade turnover in the first six months of 2026 stood at 549.69 billion USD, up 27.1% compared with the same period last year, of which exports rose 21% and imports increased 33.4%. Read full story
- French newswire Inforadar has flagged tangible advances in Vietnam’s digital transformation, citing a rapid expansion of digital infrastructure, improved online public services and the nationwide rollout of digital identity.
In a July 2 article, Inforadar reported that 18 months after the Politburo issued Resolution 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation, Vietnam has posted encouraging results across multiple key metrics. The Central Steering Committee for Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation unveiled an initial set of achievements at a national review conference in Hanoi on July 1./.
