- President Vo Van Thuong has welcomed President of the NationalAssembly of People's Power of Cuba Esteban Lazo Hernandez’s visit to Vietnam toattend a ceremony marking the 50th anniversary of Cuban leader Fidel Castro’strip to the liberated zone in Southern Vietnam.

At a reception for Hernandez in Hanoi on September 25, Thuongsaid this is a special occasion to review the tradition of cooperation andsolidarity between the two countries and to reminisce the sentiments of FidelCastro, the State and people of Cuba for the Vietnamese people's struggle fornational liberation, construction and development. Read full story

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on September 24 askedVietnamese and Brazilian businesses to concretise cooperation mechanisms withspecific programmes and projects, with an aim to bring two-way trade turnoverto 10 billion USD by 2025, and 15-20 billion USD by 2030 in a more balanceddirection.

- Public opinion in the US is generally positive aboutVietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s trip to the US from September 17-23to attend the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, which took placeimmediately after the upgrading of the Vietnam - US relations to acomprehensive strategic partnership on the occasion of US President Joe Biden’sofficial visit to Vietnam.

Speaking at a ceremony on September 19 to mark the78th National Day of Vietnam and celebrate the establishment of thecomprehensive strategic partnership for peace, cooperation, and sustainabledevelopment between Vietnam and the US at the US Institute of Peace (USIP),Todd Frantz, former Assistant of US Defence Attaché to Vietnam in2007-2010, said the relationship between the two countries has come a long wayand continues to evolve and the US looks forward to a cooperative and peacefulrelationship in the future. Read full story

- Since the establishment of a strategic partnership adecade ago (September 25, 2013-2023), Vietnam-France ties have been growingrapidly both in width and depth, Vietnamese Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang told theVietnam News Agency in a recent interview on the occasion of the 10thanniversary of bilateral strategic partnership.

The ambassador said France has always been one of the leadingpartners of Vietnam in Europe and the world, adding that France places greatimportance on Vietnam's position in the region, as evidenced by its ongoingstrategies and policies in Southeast Asia and the Asia-Pacific. Read full story

- The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will focuson helping Vietnam in general and the labour, invalids and social affairssector in particular in supporting disadvantaged groups, and extendingcooperation to many new areas in the coming time, UNDP Resident Representativein Vietnam Ramla Al Khalidi has said.

Meeting Minister of Labour, Invalids and SocialAffairs Dao Ngoc Dung recently, Ramla Khalidi proposed the two sides coordinatein implementing new projects related to employment support for people withdisabilities (PwDs) and bomb and mine victims, raise the voice of PwDs inpublic agencies and at political forums, and protect vulnerable persons such asworkers who lose their jobs due to factory closures during the just energytransition process. Read full story

- Shooter Ngo Huu Vuong secured the first silver medal forVietnam at the 19th Asian Games (ASIAD 2023) in Hangzhou city of China'sZhejiang province on September 25.

National Assembly Standing Committee convenes 53rd session

NA Chairman Man said the 53rd session will review and approve two resolutions on specific matters relating to the organisational structure and the contingent of prosecutors of the Supreme People’s Procuracy, as well as consider the NA’s people's aspiration report in December 2025.

Vietnam–Uruguay relations poised for further elevation: Uruguayan Ambassador
