Vientiane (VNA) - Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua (King Rama X) and Queen Suthida Vajiralongkorn Na Ayudhya, together with a high-level Thai delegation, are paying a state visit to Laos from March 16 –18 to further develop the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
According to Lao media, the visit is being made at the invitation of Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith and his spouse.
At a bilateral meeting held in Vientiane on March 17, President Thongloun Sisoulith stressed that the visit by the Thai King and Queen holds historic significance for Laos–Thailand relations. He noted that the visit reflects the shared aspirations of the two peoples for closer cooperation and stronger partnership.
On behalf of the Lao Government and people, President Thongloun Sisoulith extended condolences over the passing of Thailand's Queen Mother Sirikit in late 2025.
The President also expressed appreciation for development projects supported by the Thai Royal Family in Laos, which have brought tangible benefits to the Lao people and made notable contributions to the country’s development, particularly in the fields of education, agriculture and health care.
King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua voiced his hope that the traditional friendship and cooperation between Thailand and Laos, based on good neighbourliness and their strategic partnership for sustainable growth and development, will continue to flourish.
On this occasion, President Thongloun Sisoulith and his spouse accompanied the Thai delegation on visits to a traditional Lao silk production facility and several projects supported by the Thai Royal Family in Laos./.
