Over the past time, the Vietnamese Embassy in Canada has played a vital role in connecting the Vietnamese communities in Canada, helping them join hands to contribute to the overall development of their homeland.

Ottawa (VNA) – The Vietnamese Embassy in Canada held a solemn 2024 Hung Kings Commemoration Day on April 12 in Ottawa, promoting national identity and tradition, as well as reinforcing unity among overseas Vietnamese in the country.

The event drew hundreds of Vietnamese from Ottawa and neighbouring cities like Toronto, Montreal, and Kingston. Vietnamese Consul General in Vancouver Phan Kieu Thu also attended the ceremony, highlighting efforts to connect Vietnamese people across Canada.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Canada Pham Vinh Quang reviewed the embassy’s diplomatic work and acknowledged the community’s support. He hailed their patriotism and commitment to preserving Vietnamese cultural values.

Chairman of the Canada-Vietnam Society Dang Huu Phuoc said the event reminded people of honouring their heritage despite busy lives abroad.

Participants emphasised that Hung Kings worship expresses deep ancestral respect, a core part of Vietnamese culture. The worship of the Hung Kings, though rooted in legend, reflects a historical truth about the early formation of the Vietnamese nation. It is a unique cultural tradition that emphasises deep respect for ancestors and a strong sense of connection to the homeland.
