Hanoi (VNA) – Spreading positive role models and movements is vital to sparking inspiration and national pride as Vietnam strides toward a new era of prosperity and strength, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh declared at the 11th meeting of the Central Emulation and Commendation Council for the 2021–2026 tenure in Hanoi on April 17.

Held ahead of significant milestones, including the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30), the 135th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19), and the 80th anniversary of National Day (September 2), the meeting underscored Vietnam’s ongoing transformation. The nation is undertaking a comprehensive restructuring of its administrative system; advancing breakthroughs in sci-tech, innovation, and digital transformation; and deepening global integration, with targets of 8% economic growth this year and double-digit rates thereafter.

Against this backdrop, he urged the council to guide and encourage ministries, agencies, and localities to spread emulation and commendation efforts nationwide. He stressed the need to sustain momentum in ongoing emulation movements and initiate new campaigns aligned with the country's current priorities.

Commendation must be objective, transparent, and merit-based, he stressed, noting that legal documents guiding the enforcement of the Law on Emulation and Commendation are nearly complete, ensuring effective enforcement across ministries, agencies, and localities.

The Government, ministries, agencies, and localities were lauded for their focused, practical and effective directions in emulation and commendation activities. Numerous creative and impactful emulation movements nationwide have addressed urgent and complex issues while contributing to socio-economic development.

The council also proposed conferring and posthumously awarding the titles “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” and “Hero of Labour” to collectives and individuals for their outstanding contributions to national construction and defence./.
