Vietnam Coast Guard assists Philippines in post-disaster relief efforts

In recent days, parts of Cebu city have been severely hit by Super Typhoon Bualoi and the earthquake, which claimed 69 lives, injured more than 150 people, and destroyed over 3,500 houses, causing estimated damage of 1.7 billion PHP (29.3 million USD).

Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam Coast Guard (VCG) has joined hands with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and local authorities to help affected communities in Cebu city recover from the devastating impacts of Super Typhoon Bualoi and a 6.9-magnitude earthquake.

The Vietnamese delegation aboard Ship CSB 8002, led by Major General Tran Quang Tuan, Commander of the VCG’s Coast Guard Region 2, is on a working and exchange visit to the Philippines.

In recent days, parts of Cebu city have been severely hit by Super Typhoon Bualoi and the earthquake, which claimed 69 lives, injured more than 150 people, and destroyed over 3,500 houses, causing estimated damage of 1.7 billion PHP (29.3 million USD).

On October 8, VCG officers and soldiers, together with members of the PCG, travelled more than 100 kilometres from Ship CSB 8002’s anchorage site to Bogo province, one of the hardest-hit areas, to deliver aid and relief supplies.

The Vietnamese delegation presented one tonne of rice, instant noodles, dry rations, and bottled water to local authorities and residents. Military doctors of Ship CSB 8002, in collaboration with PCG medical personnel, also provided free health check-ups and medicine to local people./.

Foreign sailor brought ashore for emergency treatment

UNESCO-backed STEAM initiative helps boost gender equality

Vietnam tightens fuel smuggling controls to safeguard energy security
