Photo exhibitions celebrating the 49th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30) and the 138th anniversary of International Workers' Day (May 1) opened in Ho Chi Minh City on April 25.

HCMCity (VNA) – Photo exhibitions celebrating the 49th anniversaryof the Liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30) and the 138th anniversary of International Workers' Day (May 1) opened in Ho Chi Minh City onApril 25.

The best 154 works selected from a national art photo contest on Vietnameseseas and islands, including 22 winning photos are introduced at the event topopularise the beauty of Vietnam, its nature and people to the public.

Other exhibitions are also being held at three locations,including on Nguyen Hue pedestrian street with 80 photos featuring the Great1975 Spring Victory and the city’s subsequent transformation into a national economic,cultural, education-training, sci-tech hub.

On Nguyen Du – Dong Khoi street, visitors can view 70 photosdepicting the movement of Saigon - Gia Dinh – Cho Lon workers duringthe resistance war against the US.

Opposite to Chi Lang Park, there is anexhibition displaying 50 photos on the construction and development ofthe city, highlighting its enduring traditions of compassion andsolidarity.

Nationwide film week to celebrate International Children’s Day

Art exhibition connects beauty with Buddhist compassion, wisdom

The ninth edition of the Buddhist art exhibition “Sen dau ha” (Lotus in early summer) opened in Hanoi on May 24 during celebrations for Vesak 2570, featuring 58 works by 36 artists across a wide range of materials and styles, from lacquer, oil and silk paintings to watercolour and sculpture.

Belgian cueist wins Ho Chi Minh City World Cup 2026

Finishing as a runner-up, Thai had produced an impressive run to the final. In the quarter-finals, he defeated world No. 3 Dick Jaspers of the Netherlands – winner of 32 World Cup titles, the second-highest tally in history – by 50–46. He then edged past world No. 2 Eddy Merckx of Belgium by the same scoreline in the semi-finals to reach his first-ever World Cup final.

Hanoi circus, school turn Hoan Kiem Lake into open-air stage

Late artist Ngo Manh Lan celebrated with top honour at De Men Children Awards
