Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) on September 12 held its 6th Patriotic Emulation Congress to review patriotic movements during 2020-2025 and encourage its staff to continue striving to fulfill tasks assigned by the Party and State.

In her opening remarks, VNA General Director Vu Viet Trang stressed that over its 80-year history, the agency has always attached importance to emulation and commendation, considering them a core political task. Through such activities, exemplary individuals and units have been promptly recognised and honoured for their outstanding achievements.

She noted that the 6th congress coincides with VNA’s 80th founding anniversary (September 15, 1945 – 2025).

“The heroic tradition of previous generations, and the sacrifice of nearly 260 fallen journalists, remain a source of inspiration and historical lessons for today’s reporters to continuously strive for quality journalistic products that reflect the pulse of life and reach the world,” Trang said.

According to the General Director, emulation movements launched across the agency have spread to every unit and employee, creating momentum for all to contribute to the shared mission of building the VNA as a trusted strategic information centre of the Party and State.

The VNA is proud to have affirmed its pioneering role in information and communication, accompanying the country’s development while reflecting global affairs with the presence of its correspondents nationwide and across the five continents, she stated.

On this occasion, the VNA was honoured to receive the Ho Chi Minh Order for the third time in recognition of its long-standing tradition and outstanding contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and nation.

Looking ahead to 2025-2030, the agency sets six major emulation tasks: studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morality and style; fulfilling political duties as the official and mainstream source of information of the Party and State; enhancing competitiveness and quality of news products; diversifying publications and services; boosting IT application and digital transformation; and expanding international cooperation.

Over the past five years, the VNA has actively reformed its information work, diversifying products across print, television, online, and social media platforms. Dozens of new special pages and features have been launched, alongside expanded international coverage in multiple languages. On average, the VNA provides nearly 200,000 news items and 183,000 photos annually to domestic and foreign press agencies.

At the congress, many individuals and collectives with outstanding achievements were presented with the Government’s Emulation Flags and the Certificates of Merit from the VNA General Director./.
