– Party General Secretary and State President To Lam on July 8 underscored the need to build a modern, transparent, flexible and internationally integrated labour market.
Chairing a working session with the home affairs sector on improving workforce quality, creating sustainable employment and developing human resources to meet the country's new development requirements, General Secretary and President Lam stressed the importance of addressing existing shortcomings candidly, saying Vietnam’s challenge is no longer a shortage of workers but a shortage of workers whose skills meet development requirements. – Prime Minister Le Minh Hung on July 8 chaired the Government’s law-building session for July, which focused discussions on a number of important draft laws, reports and proposals for submission to the National Assembly's upcoming sessions.
The Government reviewed and commented on major bills, including the revised Law on Real Estate Business; the revised Law on Housing; policy dossiers for the Law on Organisation of Criminal Investigation Agencies; the revised Criminal Code; key contents and issues requiring consultation for the Law on Urban Development; orientations for a law combining the Law on State Budget and the Law on Public Investment; the revised Law on Food Safety; proposals on investment policies for the Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong railway and Ring Road No. 5 projects in the Hanoi Capital Region. – The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee convened its fourth session in Hanoi on July 8 under the chair of NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man.
In his opening speech, Chairman Man said the committee will discuss a slate of important issues in preparation for the 16th NA’s first extraordinary session set for early August, review preparations for the second regular session later this year, and take up other matters under its purview. – Vietnam will pursue its energy transition through an appropriate roadmap that ensures efficiency, sustainability and energy security, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang said at the World Energy and Environment Forum – Vietnam 2026 in Hanoi on July 8.
Addressing the forum, themed "Vietnam's Pathway to Net Zero", the Deputy PM, who also chairs the National Council for Sustainable Development, said the transition must simultaneously meet three key requirements: ensuring sufficient energy for economic growth, reducing emissions in line with Vietnam's international commitments, and guaranteeing a just transition for workers, businesses and localities. – Vietnam consistently attaches importance to its relations with traditional friends in Latin America, with Mexico being one of its most important partners, based on shared bilateral, global and regional interests, Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung told Mexican Secretary of Foreign Affairs Roberto Velasco Álvarez during their phone talks on July 8.
Vietnam wants to build a substantive and effective relationship and establish a new partnership framework that matches the level of bilateral ties, he said, adding that Vietnam supports Mexico’s efforts to bolster ties with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), thus contributing to peace, cooperation and development between the two regions.
