HCM City (VNA) – An exhibition featuring 100 green, recycled, and circular economy models and products from 50 businesses and educational establishments took place in Ho Chi Minh City on July 31, as part of the local green transition forum and recycle day 2025.
The event was jointly organised by the high-quality Vietnamese products business association and the Business Studies and Assistance Centre (BSA).
According to the chairperson of the association and head of the organising committee, Vu Kim Hanh, the expo was more than a showcase, it served as an open “practice lab,” with workshops illustrating the value of the circular economy and spreading awareness of recycling practices.
The 100 models and products on display were commercialised, market-accepted items with high economic value, Hanh said. She added that a set of evaluation criteria had been introduced to select standout products for 2026, when the "green star" label will be awarded to those recognised for excellence in recycling and sustainability. These products will earn an additional green star next to their “Vietnam high-quality goods” certification next year.
The exhibition also highlighted innovative reuse of post-production materials from key export sectors such as garment-textile, wood processing, and food manufacturing. For instance, Tran Thi Nguyen Huong, Director of Nani Manufacturing and Trading Company Limited, shared how leftover fabric scraps once discarded after garment cutting are now repurposed into popular handmade items such as scrunchies, handbags, and aprons – forming a new circular loop in production.
Similarly, the Duy Tan Recycled Plastics JSC drew attention for its "bottle-to-bottle" technology, a closed-loop system where used plastic bottles are collected, processed into plastic pellets, and turned back into new bottles.
A special highlight of the exhibition was the top five projects from the final round of the “student innovation ideas” competition, featuring creative recycling and circular economy solutions such as bio-products made from durian peels and eco-friendly coconut husk soundproof panels.
Also part of the recycle day were hundreds of imaginative fashion pieces designed and modelled by students using recycled materials./.
