Housing support for persons with contributions to revolution to be completed by July 24: PM

According to updated reports from localities as of July 8, nationwide, a total of 264,522 makeshift houses had been removed. So far, 19 out of 34 cities and provinces have fully met the housing support goals for the target groups of families of revolution contributors, poor and near-poor households.

Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has urged ministries, agencies, and local authorities to complete housing support for maryrs' families those who have rendered service to the revolution by July 24 as a practical action to mark the 78th War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27).

This is part of a notice released by the Government Office on July 16 following the the 6th meeting of the Central Steering Committee for Elimination of Temporary and Dilapidated Houses on July 9.

According to updated reports from localities as of July 8, nationwide, a total of 264,522 makeshift houses had been removed. So far, 19 out of 34 cities and provinces have fully met the housing support goals for the target groups of families of revolution contributors, poor and near-poor households.

The PM praised the proactive efforts of ministries, particularly Ministry of Ethnic and Religious Affairs, agencies, localities, armed forces, and many organisations and individuals. He commended the Ministry of National Defence, Ministry of Public Security, State Bank of Vietnam, businesses, and philanthropists for actively contributing time, funds, and resources, reflecting the deep compassion of the Vietnamese people under the spirit of “those who have more help those with less,” and “leaving no one behind.”

He emphasised that eliminating temporary and dilapidated housing is a vital political mission and a meaningful act to show gratitude to nation contributors. All housing support for heroes, martyrs' families, and revolution contributors must be completed by July 24 while the national target of eliminating all temporary and dilapidated homes must be achieved by August 31.

The PM asked Vietnam Television, Radio the Voice of Vietnam, the Vietnam News Agency and media agencies to intensify communication efforts to inspire public engagement.

The Ministry of Ethnic and Religious Affairs, in collaboration with the Ministry of Construction and localities, has been tasked with ensuring accurate data, coordinating implementation, and guiding local efforts.

Leaders of the 15 provinces that have yet to complete the elimination of temporary and dilapidated housing are requested to directly oversee and speed up the work to ensure all goals are met on time. The 15 localities are Cao Bang, Tuyen Quang, Dien Bien, Thai Nguyen, Lang Son, Phu Tho, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Quang Tri, Da Nang, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Lam Dong and Ca Mau./.
