Media awards to enhance public awareness of Vietnam’s human rights protection efforts, achievements

Organised by the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) in partnership with various ministries and sectors, the awards aim to honour individuals and organisations whose work meets high communications and journalistic standards.

Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam is ramping up efforts to showcase its progress in protecting and promoting human rights with the launch of an annual media awards programme.

The Human Rights Media Awards was announced on February 12, honouring outstanding media works that highlight human rights issues.

Organised by the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) in partnership with various ministries and sectors, the awards aim to recognise individuals and organisations whose work meets high communications and journalistic standards.

The competition includes categories for photography and video and is set to expand to other media formats in the future.

The competition is open to Vietnamese and international participants aged 15 and above, except for members of the judging panel, organisers, and related officials.

Winning entries will be those that best capture Vietnam’s efforts and achievements in advancing human rights. These works should effectively communicate Vietnam’s commitment to ensuring fundamental freedoms and legal protections, while also reflecting the country’s economic, political, and social progress. Entries should resonate both domestically and internationally, fostering a broader understanding of Vietnam’s contributions to global human rights discussions.

There will be first, second, and third prizes, as well as consolidation awards. Additional awards will be given to provinces and cities with the highest participation rates and winning entries. The awards structure may be adjusted annually based on the volume and quality of submissions.

The awards ceremony is scheduled for the fourth quarter of each year and will be broadcast live on national television and digital platforms.

Submissions can be sent online via https://happy.vietnam.vn/ or directly to the MIC's Department of External Information, located at 115 Tran Duy Hung street, Cau Giay district of Hanoi. The agency can be reached via phone numbers +84 243 767 6666 and +84 243 767 6263.

Along with broadening awareness of Vietnam’s human rights achievements, the awards also aim to reinforce Vietnam’s role in promoting human rights on the global stage while creating a valuable resource for ongoing external communications./.
