Spouses of Vietnamese, Ethiopian PMs visit Nguyen Dinh Chieu secondary school

Hanoi (VNA) – Madam Le Thi Bich Tran, spouse of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and Madam Zinash Tayachew, spouse of Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali, visited Nguyen Dinh Chieu secondary school for students with vision impairment in Hanoi on April 17.

The school's Principal Nguyen Thi Tuyet Mai highlighted the special significance of the visit, as it took place just one day before the Vietnam Day for Persons with Disabilities (April 18), bringing encouragement to both teachers and students.

The Nguyen Dinh Chieu secondary school was founded in 1982 with the mission of providing education for blind children in Hanoi. The school currently has nearly 1,800 students, including 131 students with disabilities - most of whom come from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The school’s teachers and staff not only teach academic subjects but also devote themselves to developing a sustainable and human-centred inclusive education model. The school has built a comprehensive system for inclusive education, which includes Braille instruction, orientation and mobility training, social skills, and vocational guidance. Students with disabilities from grades one to nine learn the national curriculum for sighted peers, while also receiving specialised educational support tailored to their needs.

To express their joy and gratitude for the visit, the school's students performed musical and artistic presentations, deeply touching the two distinguished guests and highlighting the resilience and determination of the students with disabilities.

On this occasion, the students presented landscape paintings of Hanoi to the two distinguished guests as heartfelt souvenirs./.

“I love my fatherland” journey 2026 launched

The “I Love My Fatherland” journey will comprise seven stages linked to historical, cultural and revolutionary sites across the country. Education ministry targets five digital technology incubators at universities

A key target under the new plan is the establishment of five digital technology incubators, or Deeptech Hubs, at universities and research institutes with strong potential. The education ministry also plans to launch a training programme for 1,000 outstanding technology entrepreneurs and develop criteria for selecting and supporting startup ecosystems within educational institutions.

Vietnam Customs expands capacity to tackle cross-border narcotics crime

Established in November 2025, the NTC comprises six officers from the Anti-Smuggling Investigation Sub-Department specialising in surveillance, intelligence collection and information analysis. The centre is tasked with strengthening customs capacity in risk assessment and drug crime targeting, helping authorities detect and prevent illicit cross-border trafficking of narcotics and other dangerous substances at an early stage.

No “blind spots” in crackdown on smuggling, counterfeit goods
